Industry of the Ordinary

This February 25th, I had the the wonderful opportunity to meet and collaborate with Chicago-based performance artists Adam Brooks and Matthew Wilson, also known as Industry of the Ordinary.

With a mob of students clad in T-shirts declaring “I want to be ordinary” standing sentinel along each side of the bridge, Industry of the Ordinary marched across the Higgins Street Bridge in Missoula, Montana flying the banner “I am ordinary; You are Not.” The snow bank piled into the center of the street  and the cars rushing by on either side added an element of difficulty and struggle to the action, which paralleled another difficult march across this same bridge: The march of Cheif Charlo and the Salish tribe as he and the Salish were forcibly removed from the valley in 1872.
